2018 was one hell of a ride for all of us – especially these six action sports legends! Take a look at the 2018 EDGEsport Awards Winners – the best athletes, sickest runs and most insane moments of the year.

Comeback of the year - Caroline Buchanan

At the start of 2018, 28-year-old Australian legend Caroline Buchanan was forced off her bike after she’d suffered a broken sternum, double-punctured and collapsed lungs, and bleeding around her heart. A remarkable recovery enabled her to make her BMX Freestyle debut at the FISE World Series in Chengdu, where she qualified for the final and proved that she was back with a vengeance!

Best Male Athlete – Nicholi Rogatkin

The slopestyle stud from Massachusetts made an impressive showing at the 2018 FISE World Series and Crankworx World Tour, but the 23-year-old left the Mountain Bike world in awe when he conquered the ‘near-impossible’ Triple Crown of Slopestyle. After a 5th-place finish at Rotorua at the beginning of the season, Nicholi pulled off wins in the next 3 stops to clinch the crown.

Best Female Athlete – Hannah Roberts

Though only 17, Michigan-born Hannah Roberts is no stranger to success and returned to the 2018 FISE World Series as the defending Women’s BMX Freestyle champion. She swept the floor with two firsts, a second and a fourth over the season, making her a convincing overall champion for the second year in a row.

Men’s Best Run – Ryan Williams

Hailing from Australia, 24-year-old scooter/BMX/action sports hero Ryan Williams returned to his homeland with his renowned signature tricks. He threw some insane flips to take gold in the BMX Big Air event at X Games Sydney.

Women’s Best Run – Tahnée Seagrave

The 23-year-old Londoner took her city roots (and two wheels) to the mountains and has now become one of the leading women in downhill. Tahnée’s season was littered with UCI World Cup wins and she finished 2018 with a silver medal, but her winning run in Vallnord, Andorra, topped all else this year.

Best Trick – Adolf Silva

MTB maniac Adolf Silva snagged his Award after landing the first ever Cali Roll on a Big Bike. The 21-year-old Spaniard blew everyone’s mind as he debuted the trick at this year’s Audi Nines.

Congratulations to all EDGEsport Award Winners 2018!
