Surfing World Record

On 18 January 2018, a 68-ft beast hit Praia do Norte in Nazaré, Portugal, and Brazilian Maya Gabeira conquered it from trough to crest! As well as earning the special designation of Largest Wave Surfed (Unlimited) – Female from Guinness World Records, Maya also claimed the first WSL Women's XXL Biggest Wave Record award.

Crankworx Triple Crown of Slopestyle

It’s the Mountain Bike award dubbed ‘near-impossible,’ but the triple crown has been taken for the first time in Crankworx history by American rider Nicholi Rogatkin after his Red Bull Joyride victory in Whistler.

Smoke and Style at Gymkhana GRiD

We were promised the biggest, loudest, smokiest Gymkhana GRiD ever, and we weren’t disappointed. US GRiD legend Ken Block brought out his Mustang Hoonicorn for the inaugural Smoke and Style – take a look at the insane result!

The Youngest Podium at X Games

The future of Skateboard is Bright(on). Fourteen-year-old California native Brighton Zeuner returned to the X Games this summer in Minneapolis and sent crowds to their feet with her amazing run. As she took first, she became part of the youngest ever podium in X Games history.

Massive Air Drop

Just hours after the Jaws Challenge had been called off because waves were too big, Hawaiian legend Kai Lenny hit the lip of a monster in Peahi and pulled off a 20-ft air drop that will go down as one of the best moments in surfing history.

BMX Comeback

Legend Australian rider Caroline Buchanan made the ultimate comeback this year at FISE Chengdu. Having started the year with a serious injury that kept her off her bike for weeks, Caroline decided to take her love of two wheels to a new discipline – BMX Freestyle. In her first competition, she qualified for the finals and whipped out an impressive ride for a Top 10 finish!
